    Description

The County is seeking grant applications for the “Park and Recreation Capital Improvement” program from eligible entities seeking funding for park and recreation projects that fall within the specified benefit zones. Eligible entities include County, cities, non-profit organizations, and other municipal public corporations with recreation facilities primarily open for public use. The “Park and Recreation Capital Improvement” program seeks qualified proposals for park and recreation capital improvement projects within the Nevada City, Grass Valley, and/or Twin Ridges Benefit Zones. Proposals must comply with state requirements for distribution of AB 1600 (Mitigation Fee Act) funds. The Recreation Mitigation Fee funds are intended for capital improvements only, Recreation Mitigation Fee funds must be expended within the benefit zone in which they were collected, with the exception of funds used for trail development, which can be expended across western Nevada County. As such, each application is only eligible for the amount of funding available in their benefit zone, excepting trail development projects. Grants will be awarded to applicants who receive the highest ranking score based on the criteria published in the RFA. An evaluation panel comprised of 5-7 people including County staff and members of the community will review and score responses to determine/select the top ranked entities based on the evaluation criteria defined in Section 9. Award recommendations will be brought before the Nevada County Board of Supervisors for approval. This RFA includes a description of the scope of work, and instructions for submitting your application.
