AI Summary
City of Columbus seeks bids for SWAT gear including tactical gas masks with voice projection units and CBRN suits with protective boots and gloves. Bidders must demonstrate experience and provide references.
1.1 Scope: It is the intent of the City of Columbus, Division of Police to obtain formal bids to establish a contract for the purchase of Gas Masks with compatible Voice Projection Units with Microphones, CBRN suits to include compatible Protective Boots and Protective Gloves to be used by the SWAT Unit. CBRN air purifying respirators and CBRN suits provide special operators (SWAT) the maximum level of protection to the face, eyes, skin, and respiratory tract from CBRN agents, toxic industrial chemicals, and toxic industrial materials while maintaining extreme user flexibility as the mission profile and operational environment changes. The voice projection units for each air purifying respirator allows the SWAT operator to have the ability to clearly communicate threats and hazards while wearing the respirator. The voice projection unit works with a variety of handheld/mobile communication systems to enhance operator safety and capabilities while wearing the respirator, including the communications equipment currently used by Columbus SWAT. This equipment would allow SWAT personnel to respond to terroristic deployments of chemical agents in a tactical environment to mitigate immediate threats and apprehend suspects to protect public safety, and recover from such situations. Columbus SWAT currently tests members yearly through a medical professional to verify pulmonary fitness of each team member to wear an air purifying respirator so that they can perform the required duties in a tactical environment. 1.2 Classification: The contract resulting from this bid proposal will provide for the purchase and delivery of twenty-seven (27) Tactical Gas Masks with twenty-seven (27) compatible Voice Projection Units with Microphones and thirty sets (30) of CBRN suits to include compatible Protective Boots and Protective Gloves. All Offerors must document the manufacture certified reseller partnership. Bidders are required to show experience in providing this type of equipment and warranty service as detailed in these specifications. 1.2.1 Bidder Experience: The offeror must submit an outline of its experience and work history in these types of equipment and warranty service for the past five years. 1.2.2 Bidder References: The offeror shall have documented proven successful contracts from at least four customers that the offeror supports that are similar in scope, complexity, and cost to the requirements of this specification. 1.3 For additional information concerning this bid, including procedures on how to submit a proposal, you must go to the City of Columbus Vendor Services web site at http://vendors.columbus.gov/sites/public and view this bid number.
