    • Required Specifications

      8”SANITRY SEWER ABANDONMENT

The MHs are typically under a patched surface or visible in the roadway.  MCES will address the four manholes in Old Webster Street ending at the MH No. 277 on the as-built (it is visible in the roadway.

The sewer on the attached drawing is no longer in use.  Is is unknown if the last span of 79’ has been previously abandoned.  If it is open, this will need to be cleaned also.  Jet clean the sewer and abandon it by spotting approximately 1/2 Cu. Yd. of concrete in the bottom of each MH (essentially filling the channel and 1’ above the bench).  The inlet and outlet  to the MH should be plugged, with something nontoxic, to prevent loss of concrete when sealing the MH bottoms.  The cone sections of the MHs are to be removed, and the MH and excavation filled with gravel up to 21.5 “ below the asphalt surface of the road.  The restoration of the road will be 13” of ODOT #304, 6” of ODOT #301 base asphalt and 3.5 “ of ODOT #441 (in two lifts).  The excavation shall be saw cut.

      MH 7M0014 INLET ABANDONMENT

The inlets are to be abandoned so if the sewer surcharges, sewage will not flow back into the inlets.  Inlets at the bottom of the MH shall be plugged by spotting concrete in the 10” and 4” and working it back into the inlet at least 8”.  Do not plug outlet as it may be used for cleaning in the future.

Materials removed from the MHs shall be removed from the site and disposed of properly.  Cleaning fluid and that cleaned or removed from the sewer shall also be disposed of at a septage receiving facility.
