Rawhide Trail Phase 3

The City of Farmers Branch is undertaking a project to widen a section of a popular concrete trail to
enhance its usability and accommodate more users. The existing trail, currently 8 feet wide, will be
replaced with a new 12-foot-wide trail. The new trail alignment has not been surveyed but has been
walked and visually assessed by City staff. The project will involve additional tasks, such as excavating,
removing trees, elevating low spots, replacing barrier-free ramps, and relocating dirt as needed. It is
important to note that replanting of trees and sodding are excluded from the scope of this project.
Given the trail's popularity, the project will be executed in phases to minimize disruption to users. The
aim is to keep as much of the trail open as possible, closing only sections that are actively being worked
on. Additional considerations include stormwater control and implementing light traffic control
measures in the adjacent low-traffic residential area. Clean-up of materials upon completion is expected.
This phased approach not only ensures safety and accessibility for the public but also facilitates a
smoother construction process. Bidders are expected to plan their work schedules and site management
strategies accordingly, taking into account these operational requirements and the need to balance
construction efficiency with public convenience.

Additionally, this project will include procuring and installing solar lighting adjacent to the new trail.

 

Contractor will be responsible for ensuring all final grades meet TDLR/ADA requirements.
