    Description

After more than a dozen years of overpromotion, overprescribing, and excessive distribution of prescription opioids, companies responsible for tens of thousands of overdoses have agreed to a national financial settlement. With all 64 counties and nearly 100% of the municipalities signed onto the settlements, Colorado is set to receive more than $700 million when the settlements are finalized. The Colorado Attorney General's Office (AG) collaborated with local governments to establish regions to distribute the funds on an annual basis, which will continue for a total of 18 years. The terms of the national settlement dictate the guidelines for how these funds can be used. The Douglas County Opioid Council (DCOC) leads the local effort to invest Opioid Settlement Funds in programs that prevent substance misuse, support treatment and recovery, and promote long-term wellness in our community. Douglas County and its municipalities make up Region 12 under Colorado’s statewide opioid settlement framework. To learn more about the DCOC and its ongoing initiatives, visit: https://www.douglasco.gov/douglas-county-opioid-council/ The DCOC has approximately $1,402,660 available for this RFP. The DCOC may award multiple grants across one or more priority areas. The DCOC will award two-year grants with a maximum amount of $500,000 per award, but there is no guaranteed minimum award amount. The DCOC will consider solicitations that exceed $500,000 if the submission demonstrates a need and exceeds the expectations of requirements stated herein. Funds will be issued on a reimbursement basis by Douglas County Government, who is serving as the DCOC fiscal agent, following receipt of project reports and associated expense invoices, subject to approval by the DCOC and/or its designee.
