    Description

The project is located at Johnston Senior High School. The existing building is located at 345 Cherry Hill Road in Johnston, Rhode Island 02919. The roof restoration project consists of the re-coating of the entire existing roof with a polyurethane coating which will provide a 20-year warranty. The existing building was built around 1966 and has an original bituminous roof and a second bituminous one installed crica 1990. There are several leaks at the deteriorated flashing along expansion joints, roof hatches, masonry chimney, skylights, HVAC fans and other roof equipment and elements. The roof area is roughly 97,000 sf of which 20,000 sf is saturated with water and will be replaced with new materials flush to the existing roof layers surface. The existing roof slopes are accomplished with sloped steel structure and consist of: 1. 2-1/2-inch-thick Tectum decking is supported by steel beams and joists, which creates all roof slopes which are 1/8-inch and greater. A pull test was performed and passed for the integrity of Tectum deck. 2. Bituminous built-up roof (BUR) with gravel; some of the gravel is baked into the asphalt and will remain in areas where saturated roof is replaced with new layers, it is impossible to remove it without destroying the fibrous tectum decking. This existing roof layer is de facto an air barrier and will be reclassified as such with AHJ. 3. 2-1/2-inch thick polyisocyanurate insulation. 4. 1/2-inch-thick cover board. 5. Bituminous built-up roof (BUR) with gravel (gravel is scheduled to be 4 vacuumed off). The roof layers will be adhered, and an adhesive pull test for the insulation passed. 6. All above existing roof layers provide R-20 insulation value. 7. All existing skylights except the ones over the gym are to be removed and closed off with new roofing materials. Gym skylights are scheduled to be replaced with new ones. 8. New reglet flashing will be applied at chimney and two small roof parapets and will include limited masonry repointing. **Project Type**: RFP - Request for Proposal (Formal) **Source ID**: PU.AG.USA.2631530.C16856576 **Piggyback Contract**: No **Question Acceptance Deadline**: 05/27/2026 05:00 PM EDT **Questions are submitted online**: No **Bid Submission Type**: Physical Bid Submission **Owner Organization**: Johnston Public Schools **Reference Number**: 0000424839 **Pre-Bidding Events**: Event TypeA - Latest Addendum: Prebid Conference | AttendanceA - Latest Addendum: Mandatory | Event dateA - Latest Addendum: 05/21/2026 02:30 PM EDT | LocationA - Latest Addendum: Johnston Senior High School 345 Cherry Hill Road, Johnston, RI 02919 | Event Note:
