Q (Regarding tow truck classifications): In section 2 of Tow Truck Classifications, on the proposal, it mentions three classes of tow trucks and may substitute a tow truck in a larger weight category for the absence of a tow truck in a lower weight category. We do not have a class D wrecker, as they cost about $500,000 to purchase, however that is something we would like to scale to eventually. Can we substitute that for a light duty wrecker, agile enough to serve those precarious parking enforcement tow needs for TOML and Mammoth PD?
A: I would recommend explaining in your proposal how the equipment you have available can meet our needs and serve the public. If you don’t believe this equipment can do the job having outside contract with larger equipment is also acceptable as noted in the RFP. Just explain how it would all work.
