The City of Gaithersburg is seeking Proposals for the demolition, removal, and proper disposal of the existing metal halide lighting system and the design and build of a new sports lighting system for a soccer field at Robertson Field #3, located at Robertson Park, 801 Rabbitt Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878. This design and build project shall incorporate all aspects of demolition and removal, design, manufacture, permitting and construction, and installation for the new LED sports lighting system. Located at Robertson Park, Field #3 is a synthetic turf field situated below the two upper baseball fields and the Youth Center. Robertson Field #3 is an all-purpose football/baseball/soccer synthetic turf field. Robertson Field #3 is used year round for rentals and may be rented out to individuals or organizations when the City’s sports program is not utilizing the facility. The fields are used primarily for spring, summer, and fall: adult softball, spring girls’ softball, spring co-ed baseball, spring co-ed baseball and spring youth t-ball. A new sports field lighting system will provide safer and more desirable playing conditions and efficient use of electricity. The poles on the far side of the field, near the wood line, will be difficult to access for removal of the existing lighting system and installation of the new lighting system.
