    Description

Trout Unlimited, Inc (TU) is seeking an experienced, qualified contractor to provide construction services for a project to increase fish passage at an irrigation diversion utilizing bioengineered bank stabilization techniques and floodplain restoration. The project is a partnership effort, including Trout Unlimited, Private Landowners, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, and other partners, that is intended to address fish passage, riparian habitat, bank erosion, and land loss within the project area. The project will remove a post-and-plank diversion dam, install a permanent hardened riffle diversion to support fish passage, and treat 5,100 feet of the Salt River and 950 feet of side channel. Techniques used will include 23 bank deflector jams, 12 floodplain wood structures, brush banks, and riparian plantings. Construction is expected to occur between August 1, 2025, and September 15, 2025 and/or between December 1, 2025 and January 31, 2026. Alternative construction schedules may be considered. In-stream construction is closed for trout spawning March 15 – July 31 and September 15 – November 30. The project falls entirely within the Clarks Barn Public Access Area, a popular fishing and hunting easement near Afton, Wyoming. The project will improve and maximize habitat and connectivity for trout along a publicly accessible reach of river.
