Description

This project seeks to control cattail (Typha spp.) and common reed (Phragmites australis) across approximately 189 acres - eight (8) project areas within eight (8) forest preserves - held by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. The goal of this project is a one-season kill of 95% for target species which shall be accomplished through herbicide applications during July 2026 through September 2026. Contractors are responsible for positively identifying cattail and preventing herbicide application to non-target species. Prospective contractors must demonstrate past experience working on weed management in State Nature Preserves and that staff has an advanced knowledge of regional wetland flora. The Project Area shall be designated by District’s Project Manager prior to the initiation of work and fall within the defined boundaries per the Project Area Map. Project will be awarded July 14, 2026, and must be completed by September 30, 2026. Contracts will be awarded, by project, to the lowest responsible bidder.
