    Description

The County of Riverside Purchasing Department, on behalf of the Emergency Management Department, is soliciting quotations for replacement respiratory protection equipment and related components, as detailed in this RFQ. The County currently uses the Sentinel CBRN PAPR system for hospital emergency preparedness. A Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR) is a battery-powered respirator that uses a blower to draw air through filters or cartridges and deliver purified air to the user. The equipment requested under this RFQ must be CBRN-capable, meaning designed for protection against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear hazards. To limit training time and associated costs, the County seeks to continue use of the Sentinel CBRN PAPR system. This procurement is intended to replace broken, obsolete, and end-of-life PAPR units, batteries, and filters for all 17 general acute care hospitals within the County. The County currently maintains a stock of compatible cartridges and has already distributed Sentinel system components to hospitals. Accordingly, any equivalent item quoted must be fully compatible with the County’s existing ILC Dover equipment, including Cartridges S-2016 and Battery Pack S-4013, to allow continued use of existing cartridge inventory with newly procured PAPR equipment while minimizing operational disruption and avoiding retraining hospital staff. Due to applicable funding requirements, the County requires delivery of all items before June 30, 2026.
