    Description

    The City of Tucson is seeking responsible and experienced vendors to supply Service Canines for the Tucson Police Department and City Court. All offerors must be capable of providing canines that meet all standards outlined in this scope.

    Needs vary and include three (3) categories of canines:

    Group A - Police Service Dog

    Group B - Explosive Detection Canine

    Group C - Wellness Canine

    Background

    The Tucson Police Department will train the canines in-house. Offerors do not need to provide training. All canine handlers will be internal City of Tucson employees. Offerors do not need to provide a canine handler.

      1. Canine Selection Process:
        1. Provide details on the criteria you use to select canines for police service work.
        2. Describe the training the canines receive, if any.
        3. Describe your ability to provide German Shepherd, Dutch Shepherd or Belgian Malinois breeds.
        4. Describe the number of canine candidates you will have available for the City choose from (and test) at time of purchase.
        5. Describe your ability to allow City personnel to test the canines prior to purchase.
        6. Describe your ability to disclose whether a canine has been returned by another agency and the reason for the return.

      Health and Welfare

      1. Health Screenings:
        1. Provide details on the health screenings and vaccinations your canines receive.
        2. Explain if you provide health certificates and veterinary records and how this information would be provided.
      2. Behavioral Assessments:
        1. Describe how you assess the temperament and behavior of the canines you provide.
        2. Explain if you can provide recent assessments or evaluations to the City.

      Delivery and Deployment

      1. Return/Exchange Policy:
        1. Describe your return and exchange policy for defective canines, including the delivery timeline of a replacement canine.
