    Description

Posting of this written determination for fifteen (15) business days serves as NOTICE OF INTENT to make a single/sole source purchase. If determined by the Authority, after reviewing any information received from prospective vendors, that the commodities or contractual services are available only from a sole/single source, the Authority will proceed to finalize the purchase. Prospective vendors are requested to provide information regarding their ability to supply the commodities or contractual services described within fifteen (15) business days from the date of posting.

    Background

Purchase and installation of replacement fire and security doors for the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) Baggage Handling System. Vigneaux Corporation has developed highly specific, proprietary controls that integrate directly with the existing Baggage Handling System (BHS) at RSW. These proprietary controls provide critical signaling to the BHS, utilizing open and close photo-eye technology to detect obstructions, thereby preventing damage to the fire shutters, conveyor belts, and surrounding personnel. Vigneaux Corporation is the sole manufacturer of these baggage-claim and ticket-counter doors in the United States. Procuring these doors from Vigneaux ensures that the legacy terminal and the newly constructed Concourse E use the same physical, software, and operational standards. A standardized environment reduces training for maintenance staff, simplifies routine troubleshooting, and consolidates vendor management. As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and sole distributor, Vigneaux maintains a complete, on-hand inventory of proprietary replacement parts. Switching manufacturers would require extensive re-engineering of the airport's existing BHS communication protocols, increasing costs, introducing potential system vulnerabilities, and causing operational downtime.
