    Questions & Answers

Q (Existing Street Data): Per the project specifications, the contractor is responsible for any costs related to encountering petromat material while performing grind and pave work. Is coring data available showing existing sections for the streets to be paved on this project? If not, please provide an estimated amount of petromat that is expected to be encountered and incorporated into the Contractor's price.

A: We do not have coring data. N. Santa Fe Avenue and S. Santa Fe Avenue are proposed for 2" mill & fill. Both streets contain black Petromat material that may be encountered and contractors should allow for that in their bid. The City will not be seeking a reduction in bid unit cost if the black Petromat is not present during cold milling. The square footage of Petromat equals the amount of square footage shown for 2" Cold Milling for Overlay.

Q (No subject): If conditions require removing greater than the 4’’ cold milling of asphalt concrete for dig outs in Bid item 8, how will the additional depth be measured and paid for with the item payment by the square feet?

A: This would be unusual; however, payment is made by the square foot of 4" removal. So, the request from the Inspector would be to remove an additional 4" of material paid by the square foot. The original 4" would need to cool before placing the additional 4" of HMA.

Q ( Inspection): Will there be an outside consulting engineering firm to perform inspection or will inspection be done in-house from the The City of Vista? If hired inspection, please provide the engineering firm.

A: In-house City of Vista Inspection is being scheduled.
