    Description

    The City of Sarasota is seeking solid waste hauling and transporting services with a vendor to transport all the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) received at the City of Sarasota’s transfer station. Also, requesting optional hauling and transporting services for yard waste debris to Sarasota County Landfill or other yard waste disposal facility.

    The solid waste collected varies from standard household and commercial waste, bulk items, white goods, tires, etc., excluding hazardous waste.  The Public Works Department - Solid Waste Division staff collect approximately 55,275 tons of MSW each year.  There are approximately 289 trailer loads of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) per month hauled and transported.

    • DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE CERTIFICATION

      Preference shall be given to businesses with drug-free workplace programs.  Pursuant to Section 287.087, Florida Statutes, whenever two or more competitive solicitations that are equal with respect to price, quality, and service are received by the State or by any political subdivision for the procurement of commodities or contractual services, a response received from a business that certifies that it has implemented a drug-free workplace program shall be given preference in the award process.  Established procedures for processing tie responses will be followed if none of the tied providers has a drug free workplace program.  In order to have a drug-free workplace program, a business shall:

      1. Publish a statement notifying employees that the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession, or use of a controlled substance is prohibited in the workplace and specifying the actions that will be taken against employees for violations of such prohibition.
