The City estimates trimming approximately 5,000 trees a year.The City’s tree inventory has a range of DBH of 1” to 60”. The majority of the work has a DBH between 1” to 30”. The type of work will be a mix of arterial street pruning at an estimated frequency of annually or once every two years, residential street pruning at an estimated frequency of every two to four years, slope property line pruning at an estimated frequency of every two to three years, slope work at an estimated frequency of every five to seven years. This method of tree maintenance assures that each tree is evaluated, the site is inspected, and the trees are maintained appropriately on a systematic per grid basis. Most pruning will be done on a grid basis. Some trees may be pruned in blocks or by species at a separate time of the year, which may be most optimal and/or appropriate for individual tree species.
