    Description

    The Project includes the demolition of the existing Veterans Memorial Stadium and associated site features, along with modifications to existing utility infrastructure to prepare the site for future construction of the SASC Project. The scope of work includes abatement and demolition of the existing stadium complex, including associated structures, site improvements, and utility infrastructure within the project limits in accordance with applicable regulations; crushing of existing on-site concrete, including grandstand and asphalt materials for creating stockpiles of these materials for reuse during future phases of construction; and proper removal and disposal of all existing stadium materials, debris and hazardous materials in accordance with applicable regulations. Scope also includes rerouting, relocation, or disconnection of existing utilities, distribution systems, fire alarm, and related infrastructure required to maintain electrical service to existing campus facilities affected by the demolition work as required to remove the stadium from the campus utility infrastructure; modifications to installation of new domestic water meter and backflow preventer, and gas meter to serve the existing central plant building northeast of the SASC Project, and removal of the existing domestic water meter, backflow, and gas meter with downtime disruptions to the central plant utilities to be as minimal as possible. Scope includes coordination with the Long Beach Utilities Department and installation of new water connections, water meters, and backflow preventers to serve the proposed SASC buildings, and associated protections from construction related activities; installation of temporary or permanent electrical equipment necessary to maintain uninterrupted service to surrounding campus buildings, including Building Z and softball and baseball fields; demolition and removal of existing stadium structure, seating, athletics field track, utilities footings, ticket booth, surface parking areas serving the stadium, and related site features including walls, chain-link fencing, gates, landscaping, and other improvements as required to construct the new building development; and installation of temporary sidewalks, pedestrian pathways, and other site improvements as required to maintain campus circulation and support future construction activities. This phase of work will prepare and stabilize the site for the subsequent construction of the new Stadium and Athletic Sports Complex.
