    Description

Summit County (“County”) is inviting qualified attorneys to submit proposals to perform the duties of a land use administrative law judge (“ALJ”). The County seeks to contract with an attorney with experience and expertise in land use to fill a new position as a land use ALJ, created in part to comply with amended Utah Code section 17-79-1001, which prohibits a county from designating the county council as the appeal authority, and as a result of the County’s decision to replace the Board of Adjustment with an ALJ. The ALJ will hear and determine primarily matters related to land use, but the ALJ may hear additional types of cases at the discretion of the County. The ALJ will review documents submitted, conduct hearings, and draft formal decisions. Hearings will be scheduled once per month, absent unusual circumstances, on a date and time agreed upon by the ALJ and the County.
