    Description

    The principal features of the work are: the installation of one (1) 9,600-gallon #2 fuel oil AST and the closure of two (2) 10,000-gallon #2 fuel oil UST. In the event that Westchester County Department of Health does not find the soil results acceptable and requires the removal of the USTs, the Contractor may be directed to remove and dispose of the USTs. If directed to removed and dispose of the tank the Contractor will be paid based on the unit bid price. The Contractor shall provide a unit bid price for the following items: Additional cost to close and remove two (2) 10,000 gallon #2 fuel oil USTs. In the event that the existing USTs have a significant amount of #2 fuel oil remaining once the new AST is operational and connected to the boilers, the Contractor may be directed to filter and transfer the remaining fuel to a facility within the Town of New Castle. If directed to filter and transfer the fuel the Contractor will be paid based on the unit bid price. The Contractor shall provide a unit bid price for the following items: The unit bid cost for filtering and transferring off-site #2 fuel oil 1,000-18,000 gallons. In the event that petroleum contamination is discovered during the work, the Contractor may be directed to remove and dispose of the contaminated material. If directed to removed and dispose of the material the Contractor will be paid based on the unit bid price. The Contractor shall provide a unit bid price for the following items: The unit bid cost for Excavation and Disposal of Petroleum Contaminated Soil shall include Excavation of the encountered materials, stockpiling on and covering by minimum 10 Mil polyethylene sheeting, disposal laboratory characterization sampling and testing, loading, transport and dispose at a facility legally permitted to accept the material. The unit bid cost for dewatering/disposal of Petroleum Contaminated groundwater shall include Dewatering of the encountered groundwater into Frac-tanks, disposal laboratory characterization sampling and testing, loading, transport and disposal at a facility legally permitted to accept the liquids. The unit bid cost for Imported Clean Backfill -Placed and compacted shall include Identifying the source of clean backfill (NYSDEC General Fill or recycled material from permitted facility that meets Part 375 Restricted Residential Soil Cleanup Objectives) and submitting for approval.
