AI Summary
City of Charlottesville seeks a vendor to install electric bus chargers and remove two light poles at the CAT transit parking lot. The project supports Battery Electric Bus operations starting summer 2026 and requires coordination with Dominion Energy. Permits are secured and equipment delivered.
Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) will operate Battery Electric Buses (BEBs) for Transit operations commencing in the summer of 2026. The BEBs will be stored in the CAT transit parking lot at 1545 Avon St Ext, Charlottesville, VA, 22902, for charging when not operational. Accordingly, fixed BEB chargers linked to the Dominion Energy power grid must be installed in the CAT transit bus parking lot to ensure as needed charging capability.
CAT has purchased ChargePoint Express Plus charging power blocks and dispensers to support this effort. The equipment has already been delivered to CAT. Dewberry Engineering Inc created the approved plan set for this project. CAT has obtained the required permits from Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville. Thus, the project is ready to commence and is time sensitive.
Prior to installation of the charging equipment, the vendor must first remove and demolish two (2) light poles as discussed on Sheet E-101 at key note 8 of the Dewberry plans.
The vendor shall work closely with Dominion Energy to ensure the site is fully operational at the completion of the project.
