The Colorado River Station (CRS) Marine Enforcement Unit (MEU) conducts boating safety education and enforcement on approximately 80 miles of federal waterway on the Colorado River. The MEU covers from the Imperial County line in the south to the San Bernardino County line in the north. Their main mission is to create a safe environment for boaters through education and enforcement. PWC’s aid in enforcement and search and rescue operations on the Colorado River. Historically, our area of the Colorado River has unreliable water levels that sometimes prevent enforcement/search and rescue boats from deploying on the water. In these situations, having PWC’s would provide CRS the ability to put enforcement and search and rescue vessels on the river regardless of the water levels. PWC’s can operate in very shallow water, can reach backwater areas that aren’t accessible to boats, and support enforcement vessels during heavily populated holiday weekends. In the case of missing persons, a quick response may be the difference between a missing person being a rescue instead of a recovery. *Note: Bidders must complete and submit the following of the RFQ: 1.
