The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to solicit proposals to enter into a contract with a qualified vendor to obtain grant proposal and writing services in innovative economic and targeted industry areas for the Nucleus Institute of the University of Utah, hereafter referred to as the “Institute” and "University". The companies submitting proposals in response to this RFP will hereafter be referred to as “Vendor.” The Institute is examining several alternatives of providing this service and may decide, after reviewing proposals submitted, not to enter into any agreement. Background. The Institute seeks to contract with a private vendor to provide grant writing services to support Utah’s innovative economy and targeted industries. Utah currently focuses on five key targeted industries, including (1) Advanced Manufacturing, (2) Aerospace and Defense, (3) Financial Services, (4) Life Sciences and Healthcare Innovation, and (5) Software and Information Technology. Each of these industries has tremendous growth potential and requires development support through this contract. The Institute also wants to support growth of Utah’s economy through pursuit of grants in innovative fields. Through this contract, the Institute desires the following outcome: support of Utah’s targeted industries and innovative economy areas by identifying, writing, and securing federal grant dollars. The awardee of this contract shall meet with the Institute at least one time per month to discuss grant opportunities for Utah’s targeted and innovative industries. Additionally, the awardee shall provide a monthly report to the Institute which includes the number of grants identified, the number of grants written, the results of the grant writing services, and other information related to this service contract. The mission of the Institute is to convene, educate, and fuel innovation in Utah. To fulfill the goal of creating innovation opportunities for Utah, the Institute places its focus on developing its five targeted industries and supporting economic growth in Utah.
