    Description

    The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to obtain a consultant to conduct a waste audit within a portion of NYSDOL’s real estate portfolio. The purpose of the waste audit is to assess and analyze the types, quantities, and sources of waste generation at NYSDOL facilities throughout the State. The audit will establish a waste baseline to provide NYSDOL with a better understanding of current waste management practices, as well as identify opportunities for reducing waste generation, increasing recycling, and practices for improving waste management, including recycling infrastructure improvements and increased education and training. The New York Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) and New York State Executive Order 22 dated September 20, 2022, establish New York State’s commitment to sustainability and climate directives and set new goals for the environmental performance of State agencies, Authorities, and State corporations, also known as Affected Entities. EO 22 Section VIII. “Reducing Waste” mandates that Affected Entities create a Waste Diversion Plan to increase waste diversion rates by 10% over five years and includes a requirement that every facility managed by the Affected Entity will have a Comprehensive Audit performed at least once over the five-year period covered by the Plan.
