    • Scope of Work or Project Details

      General scope of work is the complete removal and replacement of potable water filtration media at the CITY’s existing Water Treatment Plant Filtration system.  

      General Existing Filtration System Information:

      1. Number of filter bays = 8
      2. Number of Filter cells = 16
      3. Each Filter Cell Dimensions = 18’ x 9’
      4. Each Filter Cell Area = 162 SF
      5. Design Anthracite Depth = 20 inches.
      6. Design Sand Depth = 10 inches.
      7. Existing Filter Media Support is Xylem/Leopold Company, Inc., Type S Underdrain Lateral Blocks with IMS Media Retainer Cap

      Scope of work for each of the eight (8) filter Bays (two (2)  filter cells per bay) :

      1. City will take one (1) filter bay (two filter cells) off-line at a time.
      2. Bidder to remove existing media from two off -line cells.
      3. Bidder to vacuum out remaining media and prepare for inspection of existing underdrain system.
      4. CITY will coordinate and complete inspection of  the existing  underdrain system. Existing Underdrain system is out of warranty and manufacturers inspection is not necessary.
      5. Bidder shall furnish and install new media (sand and Anthracite) into both filter cells. Installation shall be per original Leopold media installation instructions.
      6. CITY will confirm media installation depth requirements are met.
      7. Bidder shall fill with potable water, chlorinate and disinfect the two filter cells after media installation has been completed and confirmed by CITY.
      8. Bidder shall provide laboratory services to complete bacteriological sampling and testing of each filter cell.
      9. After passing bacteriological testing results. CITY shall place the completed filter bay back into operation.
      10. Steps 1 through 9 shall be completed for remaining seven (7) filter bays (fourteen (14)filter cells).
