West Frederick Library

The County of Frederick, Maryland has determined that contractors who submit bids for the Construction of the West Frederick Library must be prequalified. Contractors interested in bidding this project are required to complete a Prequalification Questionnaire.

The County will evaluate the questionnaires submitted by each Contractor for the purpose of determining, in a timely manner, bidders who are deemed qualified for successful performance of the type of work included in this project.

• Background —

  The West Frederick Library is a 15,000 SF civic facility using steel frame construction with a fiber cement panel façade and TPO roofing system, supported by a site accommodating approximately 100 parking spaces. The design emphasizes flexible, light-filled interiors, strong community gathering spaces, and durable, low-maintenance exterior materials. Anticipated challenges include efficient space planning within a compact footprint, coordination of building systems, and maintaining cost control while meeting performance and sustainability goals. The contractor must have experience with small to mid-size public or civic projects, familiarity with steel construction and panelized envelope systems, and the ability to manage community-sensitive sites with active public interfaces.
