    General work description:

    The City of South San Francisco (the "City") invites qualified contractors to bid for the WESTBOROUGH PRESCHOOL

    PROJECT, BID NO. 2717 (the "Project") which includes, but is not limited to:

    The 0.47-acre project site is located in Westborough Park at 2350-2360 Galway Drive in South San Francisco, California. Westborough Park is bounded by Westborough Boulevard and single-family homes to the south, Westborough Middle School to the west, single family homes to the north, and Galway Drive and single family homes to the east. The project site is bounded by Galway Drive and residences to the east, Westborough Park facilities (tennis court, picnic shelter, picnic areas, lawn, and parking lot) to the south and west and the Westborough Fire Station and single family homes to the north.

    The proposed project includes demolition of the existing structures on-site and tree removal, and the construction of a new preschool facility, public restroom and ancillary facilities. The new preschool facilities would include a new 7,135 s.f. building with five indoor classrooms, one covered outdoor classroom, and administrative office space. There is also a 2,022 s.f. covered outdoor walkway connecting the administrative area to the classrooms that is integrated into the play area.

    Q (No subject): Structural drawings call out detail 4/S1.2 for typical interior, non-bearing walls to attach to the roof framing. The architectural drawings call out detail 4/A7.2. These are vastly different details. The architectural detail makes the interior, perpendicular walls bearing walls by connecting them to the rafters. Detail 2/A4.4 shows the wall between grids G and H with a footing which is not shown on the structural drawings. Detail 3/A4.4 seems to show the same interior wall, this time without a footing, but with the same connection to the rafters. On S2.2 (foundation plan) there are no interior walls between grids G and H shown, and no interior footings shown except for the interior shear wall that runs north and south between grids 2 and 3. The design team needs to tell us which detail to follow.
