    Description

    Sealed proposals endorsed “WIMBLETON DRIVE PHASE 2 PROJECT - Contract #6-26(W)” will be received from contractors by the City of Birmingham, at the office of the City Clerk, located at 151 Martin Street, Birmingham, Michigan, until 2:00 P.M. local time, on Thursday, April 9th, 2026. The proposals will be opened and publicly read aloud at that time. Bids submitted after the exact time specified for receipt will not be considered. A pre-bid meeting will be held at the Birmingham City Hall building (151 Martin Street, Birmingham, MI 48009) on Friday, March 27th, 2026, between 8:00-9:00 am. Bidders should meet on the 2nd floor, near the engineering department at the east end of the building. Attendance for the pre-bid meeting is OPTIONAL, but recommended for general contract bidders. General Description of Work: This project includes sewer lining, replacement of storm and combined sewers, water main, and pavements within the work area. Major work items include: approximatley 3,184 linear feet of mainline sewer installation; 1,157 linear feet of sanitary service replacement, 1,780 linear feet of new water main; 317 linear feet of water service replacement; 6,300 square yards of pavement pulverization, re-grading, new aggregate base, and capeseal pavement surface instalaltion; 715 square yeards of new concrete driveway approaches; 1,570 square feet of new concrete sidewalks; 3,640 square yards of lawn restoration; and other items to make a complete project on Wimbleton Drive, between Warwick and Adams. The project also involves construction of a new storm sewer outfall at the Rouge River, located north of Wimbeton Drive, on the east side of Woodward Avenue. The work will involve sewer lining, new 42” storm sewer installation, earth excavation, and construction of a rip-rap settling pool adjacent to the Rouge River. Bidders shall review and comply with all Contract Documents, and supplemental information, as defined in the Information For Bidders. Bidding documents for this project must be obtained electronically through the Michigan Inter- governmental Trade Network (MITN), which may be accessed at https://www.bidnetdirect.com/mitn. Vendors wishing to obtain copies of the bidding documents will need to register through the MITN website. Electronic versions of bidding documents will be posted to MITN starting Thursday, March 19th, 2026. The successful bidder shall be required to post bonds, and to comply with the contract requirements of the City Charter. Bids are firm, and no bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after opening of bids. Procurement for the City of Birmingham will be handled in a manner providing fair opportunity for all businesses. This will be accomplished without abrogation or sacrifice of quality and as determined to be in the best interest of the City of Birmingham. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bid proposals, to waive any irregularity in any of the bid proposals submitted, and to accept any proposal which it shall deem to be the most favorable to the interest of the City.
