    Description

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Public Health (DPH) is seeking proposals for Wisconsin Coalition for Social Connection (WCSC) Project Management Services and intends to use the results to award a Contract. DPH is looking to partner with a Vendor that can manage and lead the activities of the WCSC, with a focus on membership growth, ensuring WCSC’s long term ongoing contribution to healthy communities. The issues of loneliness and social isolation intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic and brought heightened awareness to the serious physical, emotional, and psychological impacts of loneliness and isolation. In 2023, DPH released its State Health Improvement Plan which identifies social connectedness and belonging as one the of the state's health priorities for the next five years. As a result of the growing body of research on the negative impacts of social isolation, a group of aging and disability segment professionals came together to form a coalition that would come to be known as the Wisconsin Coalition for Social Connection. The coalition has been working to raise awareness, to create a research driven knowledge base to support interventions, to share methods for identifying loneliness, to connect people with local resources, and to advocate for public policy solutions. The activities and services of the WCSC benefit professionals working in the aging, disability, public health, and independent living sectors. These activities and services also benefit members of communities seeking to create sustainable, impactful connections and belonging within their communities.
