66--GEOMETRICS MAGEX PORTABLE MAGNETOMETER

Notice of Intent to Sole Source to Geometrics, Inc. for the portable magnetometer MagEx Land Magnetometer.

In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, the Department of Energy (DOE), National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Geometrics, Inc. for the portable magnetometer MagEx Land Magnetometer. This equipment will enhance NETLs ability to locate active and legacy oil and gas infrastructure. This instrument will be used at a variety of oil and gas infrastructure sites across the United States.
Geometrics, Inc. is the only capable vendor to provide the portable magnetometer that meets NETLs technical specifications. The technical specifications include a unit that has an operational run time of 12+ hours, batteries are “hot swapable”, provides data output streaming over built-in Wi-Fi, and is lightweight- under 4kg. This is considered a sole source to Geometrics, Inc. because, to the best of the NETL’s knowledge, based on market research conducted, Geometrics, Inc. is the only known source that can provide the equipment with the required technical specifications. No known potential alternate sources exist which could satisfy NETL's requirement.
This notice of intent is not a request for quote/proposal. Any interested party that believes it can meet the NETL requirement described herein may identify themselves and must provide evidence of their capability to fulfill the requirement being requested by 3:00 PM ET on June 17, 2025. Responses must be submitted in writing to the Contract Specialist, Anissa Beasinger, via email at anissa.beasinger@netl.doe.gov no later than the time and date noted above. Telephone responses and requests will not be received.

A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
