    RFI FOR HAND PUMPS TO INFLATE LRU-13A MULTI-PLACE LIFE RAFTS (MPLR) IN USE BY ROTARY-WING AND FIXED-WING TRANSPORT AICRAFT

    To promote early exchanges of information with Industry in accordance with FAR Subpart 15.2, Naval Air Systems Command, Aircrew Systems (NAVAIR PMA202) of Patuxent River, Maryland is issuing this Request for Information (RFI).  NAVAIR is requesting information to identify qualified sources to provide commercially available hand pumps for LRU 13A MPLR life rafts.  The requirements for these items are provided below.  Interested parties are invited to describe their capabilities to provide the product as described herein. The Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) items submitted in response to this RFI will be evaluated for the capability to meet the desired performance requirements listed below.

    Operation. Each pump shall be tested for air discharge by moving the handle several times through the complete normal cycle of operation.

    The discharge of air per stroke shall be no less than 32 cubic inches at 70 degrees F.

    Operating Force. The pump shall be held In a vertical position with the handle Up and fully extended with the air outlet open. A weight of 1 pound applied to the handle shall, within 5 seconds, depress the plunger assembly to the full “in” position.

    Dimensions.  10 inches Max (Closed position), 4 inches Max diameter. 13/16-20 UNS-2A threads (External) on outlet.
