INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE AEROSPECT SPS 2500 REPAIR

The Commander Fleet Readiness Center (COMFRC) Procurement Group, Patuxent River, MD 20670 hereby gives notice of their intent to award a purchase order to Taylor Hobson, Inc., 705 Enterprise St, Aurora, IL 60504 (Cage Code: 64790) on a sole source basis in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b)(i), only one source reasonably available and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.  

The Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) has a requirement to replace a failed operating computer in a Taylor Hobson Aerospect SPS 2500.  Taylor Hobson is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the Aerospect SPS 2500.  The Aerospect software must be retained for equipment to function correctly.  Taylor Hobson owns the software.  In addition, the operating computer requires many unique data acquisition (DAQ) cards to operate with the gauge heads and encoder.  These components must come from and be calibrated by the OEM.  Taylor Hobson has no authorized 3rd party distributors for repairs or the software. For this reason, the government intends to procure this service on a sole source basis from Taylor Hobson, Inc. (CAGE Code: 64790).  

THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES.  However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which, if received within three (3) calendar days after the date of the publication of this synopsis, will be considered.  Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.  A determination by the government not to compete this requirement based upon responses received as a result of this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
