Notice of Intent to Award a Single Source Blanket Purchase Agreement

The 1st Special Operations Contracting Squadron at Hurlburt Field, FL intends to establish a single source Blanket Purchase Agreement with Thompson Tractor Company, 2670 W Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32534, for parts and repair services of various Caterpillar Heavy Equipment.

The authority permitting the acquisition of this requirement by only one source reasonably available is in accordance with FAR 13.106(b) Soliciting from a single source. The Air Force currently has multiple Caterpillar heavy equipment that requires maintenance and repair services. The heavy equipment is manufactured by Caterpillar and according to the company’s website the only local repairers are the Thompson Tractor Company in Crestview and Pensacola. Due to the size of the heavy equipment, transportation is restricted to within the local area (75 miles) of Hurlburt Field, FL, 32544. Because of this, the circumstances of this contract action deem only one source reasonably available.

This is a notice of the intent to award a sole source blanket purchase agreement. It is published for informational purposes only and not as a request for competitive quotations. Therefore, no solicitation document exists for this requirement. No responses to the notice of intent to sole source are anticipated, however, all quotations/responses received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
