    Marine Scrap Metal Removal by Hopper Barge – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District

    This lot consists of an estimated 300+ Long Tons of Government-owned scrap metals located at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers waterfront facility, 3500 Grand Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15225.

    The property consists primarily of:

    • Plate and Structural Steel (P&S)
    • No. 1 Heavy Melting Steel (HMS #1)
    • Fabricated steel components and structural assemblies
    • Aluminum
    • Mixed ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals
    • Scrap containing incidental foreign attachments such as wood, rubber, fasteners, hardware, and other non-metallic materials

    This is a one-time lump-sum sale. Removal of the property is planned to be performed by hopper barge.

    The Government will load the purchased property directly onto the purchaser’s hopper barge(s) using Government personnel and Government-owned equipment. The purchaser is responsible for providing all barge(s), tug services, marine transportation, labor, equipment, and logistics necessary to complete removal.

    The approximate heaviest individual piece is estimated to weigh up to 35 tons, and the approximate longest individual piece is estimated to be 62 feet. These dimensions are estimates provided for planning purposes only and are not warranted.

    Mandatory Site Inspection

    Bid Submission

    This sale is conducted by sealed bid. Bidders shall submit Appendix A and Standard Form 114 by the bid deadline identified above.

    Appendix B shall not be submitted with the bid and will be requested only from the apparent successful bidder, if required.
