MITER GATE DRIVE GEARBOX REBUILD

The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation Contracting Office, intends to award a Firm Fixed-Price, sole source contract to Timken Gears & Services, Inc., under authority 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 – Only one source responsible and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, for the full replacement of internal gearing and components, reassembly and testing of the complete assembly, for two (2) miter gate drive operating gearboxes. Timken Gears & Services., Inc., (formerly Philadelphia Gear) is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and designer of the gearboxes and retains proprietary design knowledge necessary to produce components that meet these requirements. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. No requests for capability briefings will be honored as a result of this notice and any information provided will not be used as part of any subsequent solicitation requirement. No telephonic inquiries will be honored. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract. The Contracting Officer determined that the circumstances of the contract action deem Only once source responsible, and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, Contracting Office intends to make a sole source award to Timken Gears & Services., Inc.
