    Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Michigan Tech University for the Procurement of Pilot Testing of Ergonomic Devices in Patient Handling Tasks. As described in the statement of work, the vendor’s service, “Pilot Testing of Ergonomic Devices in Patient Handling Tasks”, is important to assist in planning and advancing the NIOSH ongoing NORA-funded main project. The vendor has a well-equipped testing facility that meets all the requirements for conducting the experiments. This also includes access to a nursing program capable of supplying a sufficient number of nursing assistants or students to serve as test subjects. They have solid background and education in biomechanics and ergonomics, especially evaluating effects of ergonomic interventions using biomechanical assessments. More importantly, their strong expertise and research experience in kinesiology and physiology, enabling them to effectively interpret human performance and evaluation results. A critical aspect of assessing the impact of ergonomic interventions is the measurement of metabolic expenditure, a parameter for which the vendor has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in developing specialized test protocols. This contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government.  A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.  Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.  Any quotation/response should be emailed to contract specialist at uxs2@cdc.gov by COB April 22 2024.
