NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT.  Federal Prison Industries (UNICOR)

Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, 10 USC 3204(a)(1), Only one responsible source and no other supplies or service will satisfy agency requirement.

The Maine Army National Guard (MEARNG), Recruiting and Retention Battalion (RRB) intends to award a sole source Firm-Fixed Price purchase order to Federal Prison Industries (FPI).  The proposed acquisition is to procure new stackable frame panel systems furniture.  Due to the fact, the Recruiters are always moving their operations to different storefront locations depending on success of a particular geographical location. The overall intent is to keep same type of stackable frame panel systems furniture, allowing the recruiters the ability to cannibalize all the modular/system office furniture to meet the space and the needs of current particular locations and for the future.

A determination not to compete this proposed contract action is based on market research and is solely within the discretion of the government. There was no evidenced that other companies would be able to use the existing parts from the current modular panel furniture to be able to connect with other workstations and provide the same color palette to match. It is essential that the furniture encompass an environment that demonstrates high standard, and professionalism equal to the Army brand image.

This notice is being published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) subpart 5.102(a)(6).

A solicitation was issued under the Solicitation Number W912JD25QA024 with an estimated installation of 31 July 2025. See attached Limited Source Justification for further details.
