PROCUREMENT OF CLINICAL FEMALE PELVIC TRAINER (CFPT) NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE (BRAND NAME ONLY)

Description - Notice of Intent to Sole Source (Brand-Name, Commercial Requirement)

The VA Strategic Acquisition Center (SAC) intends to negotiate a sole source contract (under the simplified acquisition threshold) with Limbs & Things, Inc. 12127 Apache Ave., Savannah, GA 31419 for the provision and delivery of ten (10) clinical female pelvic trainers (CFPT) MK 3– Advanced – Dark (P/N 60935) to replace existing damaged units needed in direct support of delivering congressionally mandated women’s health clinical training to Women’s Health Primary Care Providers (WH-PCP) and nurses. 

This notice is for information purposes. The Government is not seeking offers or quotes in response to this notice of intent.

Competition is lacking for this required brand-name product as confirmed through Market Research and SAC must therefore purchase the required items directly from the manufacturer, Limbs & Things, Inc.  Responses to market research requests confirmed that any other potential sources must procure the item from Limbs & Things and respondents to market research requests directed VA to the manufacturer. When contacted, Limbs & Things confirmed that it is “…the sole source designer, manufacturer and provider (of 60935 CFPT Advanced Dark)” and that it “…directly provides the warranty and support for the item.”

This exact brand name item is needed for consistency in the existing training program. The units being ordered are meant to replace previously purchased units that are no longer functional. Different trainers would result in major training changes, disruption, and additional costs. For these reasons, Limbs & Things is the only reasonable source for the 10 CFPTs being ordered.

The Government does not anticipate subcontracting opportunities associated with this procurement.
