REMOVAL, DISPOSAL, AND INSTALLATION OF 102 SETS OF DORMITORY FURNITURE AT AVIANO AIR BASES, ITALY (BLDG 1424)

Furnish and install 102 sets of solid hardwood bedroom furniture, including removal and disposal of existing furniture and packaging. Each set shall consist of the following: an under-bed storage unit, a 3-drawer chest, a 2-shelf bookcase, a 3-drawer nightstand, a desk with a full-width drawer, a 2-position chair with an upholstered seat and back, and a slat bed on metal legs. All furniture must be constructed of specified hardwoods in a cherry finish, adhering to strict quality and fabrication standards outlined below. Manpower for removal of old items and installation of the new furniture is included.

Materials:  
Use of hardwoods such as Oak, Beech, Ash and Maple is required.  All softwoods such as Pine or rain forest species are not acceptable.

Fabrication: 
No fiberboard, particleboard, medium density fiberboard or hardboard (MDF), shall be used in any part of the furniture or in any plywood component.  Exterior surfaces and exposed interior surfaces shall be solid hard wood or hard wood veneer.  All framing materials shall be solid hard wood.  All joints must be stronger than the substrate itself and must resist racking and withstand loading.  Lamination shall consist of planks no less than 19 mm (3/4") or more than 100 mm (4") in width.  Any other edges or borders require minimum 2mm thick ABS (Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol) plastic to be heavy wear and tear resistant. All materials used shall be free from defects which would adversely affect the performance or maintainability of individual components or of the overall assembly.  Materials not specified herein shall be of the same quality used for the intended purpose in commercial practice.
