AI Summary
The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking information for a contract opportunity regarding the removal and disposal of wastewater from Little Sand Island (LSI) in Alabama. LSI is an island in Mobile Bay used by the Coast Guard's Joint Maritime Test Facility for oil spill response research, specifically in-situ burn (ISB) testing. The contract will involve the transportation and proper disposal of wastewater generated during these research activities. Potential bidders should be prepared to provide efficient and environmentally-friendly solutions for the removal and disposal of wastewater from LSI.
ISB test series in March 2017 and September 2018 introduced HOOPS sweet crude oil (CAS# 8002-05-9) into the burn pan which contained brackish water pumped in from Mobile Bay. The oil was corralled and burned from the surface of the water. Independent laboratory analytical results of the wastewater composition are attached titled: AnalyticalResults.
We require removal of about 130,000 gallons of wastewater from the 38-foot by 108-foot open outdoor steel tank ("the burn pan") and subsequent disposal in accordance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Taking into account the limited mooring options at LSI, the R&D Center Contracting Office, New London, CT is conducting market research for potential interested and capable sources and is seeking information on potential offerors qualified to safely remove and dispose of the wastewater.
