Appliance Decommissioning and Recycling Services

The Santa Cruz County Department of Community Development and Infrastructure invites sealed proposals for Appliance Decommissioning and Recycling Services from fully licensed, insured, bonded, certified CONTRACTORS to furnish all labor, tools, equipment, and incidentals required to provide services for the Santa Cruz County Department of Community Development and Infrastructure.

Public Works Recycling and Solid Waste Services operates two disposal sites, the Buena Vista Landfill in south county and Ben Lomond Transfer Station in north county. In addition to providing refuse disposal needs for the residents and businesses in unincorporated Santa Cruz County, the disposal sites include recycling and diversion programs for many materials including wood and yard waste, mattresses, tires, appliances, electronic waste, carpet, cardboard, scrap metal, glass and plastic.

Background

Public Works is soliciting proposals from qualified and experienced contractors to provide Appliance Decommissioning and Recycling Services as detailed in this Request for Proposal (RFP).

The term of this contract will be July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with the option for three (3) one-year renewals.

• Proposal Documents —

  Interested parties must deliver 2 paper copies (one original and one copy), double-sided. The maximum number of pages shall not exceed 15 double-sided sheets (excluding attachments and exhibits) in font size 11pt or larger.

  The hard copies shall be received by mail or submitted to Public Works prior to April 29, 2026, 2:00 p.m. Proposals shall be in a sealed package clearly marked "RSW2026-3 Appliance Decommissioning and Recycling Services” and addressed as follows:
