    Description

    The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County desires to solicit bids in accordance with the Georgia Local Government Public Works Construction Law (the “Georgia Public Works Law”) from responsible Construction General Contractors.

    Responsible General Contractors are to provide all construction, materials, equipment, and labor to complete the Middle Oconee East Truck Sanitary Sewer Improvements - Phase 1A:

    This work shall replace an aging 30-inch concrete pipe trunk line and manholes located along the Middle Oconee River with a proposed 48-inch ductile iron pipe (DIP) and new 9ft diameter precast structures. This shall include the installation of approximately 4,250 linear feet (LF) of 48-inch Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP), approximately 50  linear feet (LF) of 16-inch Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP), approximately 200 linear feet (LF) of 12-inch Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP), and 400 linear feet of 72-inch casings with anchors for stream crossings (some jack and bore), and 26 precast concrete manholes. This work starts at the Middle Oconee Water Reclamation plant and ends in the vicinity of the Macon Highway Bridge over the Middle Oconee. Some of this work shall be new trench work located parallel to the existing facilities, most shall be same trench replacement. There is one approximately 160 linear foot (LF) jack and bore under Macon Highway. All interconnections to the truck line shall be replaced a minimum 50 linear feet (LF) up stream from the trunk line with 12-inch Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP) or larger and a manhole installed.

    Along with this, work shall include erosion control and landscaping, several creek crossings, groundwater dewatering, as well as repair or replacement of items such as pavement, sidewalk, fences, and curbs. This work shall require large scale bypass pumping for the duration of the project.

    •       Work includes traffic control and requires larger scale bypass pump arounds for the duration of the project.
    •       Summary:  The work to be performed will contain the following sizes and approximate length (lf) of DIP:

    a.      48” = 4,250 LF (DIP)

    b.      16” = 50 LF (DIP)

    c. 12” = 200 LF (DIP)
