1. Introduction

USD 489 / Early Childhood Connections is requesting sealed proposals from qualified cabinet manufacturers and installers for the fabrication and installation of custom cabinetry for designated areas within the Early Childhood Connections facility located at 2501 E. 13th Street, Hays, Kansas.

The project includes fabrication, delivery, and professional installation of custom frameless cabinetry as illustrated in the attached conceptual drawings and specifications.

2. Project Scope

The successful vendor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, hardware, and installation services necessary to complete the cabinetry project.

Project areas include:

• Hallway tall storage cabinetry

• Sink and countertop cabinetry areas

• Base cabinets

• Wall cabinets

• Tall cabinets

• Finished end panels

• Toe kicks

• Fillers and trim

• Cabinet hardware

• Installation and final adjustment

Reference drawings are included for layout and configuration expectations.

3. Cabinet Construction Specifications

All cabinetry shall meet or exceed the following minimum specifications:

Construction

• True frameless (European-style) cabinet construction

• CNC-machined precision fabrication

• Full-access cabinet openings

• Clean, modern appearance suitable for commercial applications

Materials

• 3/4” premium furniture-grade thermally fused melamine (TFM) panels

• Moisture-resistant, scratch-resistant melamine surfaces

• 1/4” fully captured matching melamine backs

• Matching finished end panels on all exposed ends

• PVC edgebanding color-matched to cabinet surfaces

Joinery

• Confirmat screws, hardwood dowels, and industrial adhesives

• Full-depth dado and rabbet joinery where applicable

• Square and rigid assemblies designed for commercial use

Drawer Systems

• Premium double-wall steel drawer systems

• Full-extension concealed undermount slides

• Soft-close operation

• Minimum 110 lb dynamic load rating

Door Hardware

• Concealed soft-close hinges

• Three-way adjustable hinges

• Tool-free removable hinge system preferred

Shelving

• Adjustable shelving with heavy-duty shelf pins

• Precision 32mm shelf spacing system

Toe Kicks

• Moisture-resistant construction

• Finished to match adjacent cabinetry

4. Installation Requirements

The awarded vendor shall:

• Deliver and professionally install all cabinetry

• Level, plumb, shim, and securely anchor all cabinets

• Install fillers, toe kicks, trim, and accessories

• Adjust all doors and drawers for proper alignment

• Ensure smooth soft-close operation

• Remove all installation debris

• Leave project ready for countertop installation and final trades

Installation shall comply with industry standards and manufacturer recommendations.

• Project timeline

• Cost

USD 489 / Early Childhood Connections reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and waive informalities in the bidding process.
