    Questions & Answers

Q (Technical Specifications Special Note 18): In Technical Specifications under Special Notes, Item 18: "Hydrant meter must be installed with a backflow preventer". My question is who is providing and installing the meter and backflow, the City of Conroe? or the Contractor? Will the City of Conroe allow the contractor to move the meter and backflow from street to street after initial installation? If the City of Conroe does not allow the contractor to move the meter and backflow from street to street, will the City of Conroe provide and install at least two (2) or more meter and backflow assemblies to allow for the contractor to move from one location to the next without any delay? Thanks.

A: The City of Conroe will install the meter with backflow device for the awarded vendor after application and deposit is paid, the City is also responsible for maintaining the device and moving it as needed.

Q (Lateral Inspection): For Line Item #5, Service Lateral Inspection 300 EA, is the intent to have these laterals televised via push camera?

A: This line item is no longer needed and will be addressed in an addendum.

Q (Builder's Risk Inquiry): Can you please confirm whether the Builder’s Risk insurance requirement can be removed for this project, as it may not be applicable to the nature of the work? Section 5.7 of the contract documents requires the Contractor to provide Builder’s Risk insurance for 100% of the completed project value. However, the scope of work for this project consists primarily of cleaning, CCTV inspection, and minor point repairs, which do not appear to involve the installation or construction of permanent structures or materials.

A: Builder’s Risk may be removed for this project. Please ensure all other City insurance requirements are met.
