    The Village of Gowanda, New York intends to identify a consulant to help complete pre-development activities within its New York State-designated Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA). Challenges to be addressed include a lack of information about vacant, underutilized, and known or suspected brownfield sites; need to further assess physical conditions and redevelopment opportunities and challenges for a minimum of five (5) strategic sites including potential environmental challenges, funding challenges, uncertainty regarding site suitability, etc.; need to conduct a market analysis to assess potential redevelopment opportunities for key sites and the BOA in general, with a focus on priority industry types; need to develop marketing strategies and materials for key sites; and need to undertake marketing activities to promote redevelopment opportunities to potentially interested businesses, investors, developers, etc. The primary community revitalization objectives/community benefits to be achieved through this project include redevelopment and occupancy of vacant, underutilized, and known or suspected brownfield sites including empty storefronts; blight removal; improved community safety; increased property values, including for surrounding properties; increased tax revenue and decreased tax rates; new business opportunities and job creation; increased utilization of existing infrastructure; increased dining, retail, tourism, and hospitality opportunities; more residents; greater housing choice; increased access to the waterfront and natural resources; increased tourism and visitation to Gowanda; development of overnight and short-term accommodations; economic revitalization; quality of life improvements; and improved environmental conditions.
