The Office of the County Attorney (OCA) provides legal advice and services to County departments, agencies, boards and commissions, as well as the County Council. As counsel to one of the largest and most populous Counties in Maryland, the Office of the County Attorney collects and generates huge amounts of electronic data on a daily basis. This includes the emails, documents and many other forms of electronically stored information (“ESI”) that are often used in the discovery phase during litigation and investigations as well as for responding to Maryland Public Information Act (“MPIA”) requests. Annually, OCA handles an average of 230 lawsuits and 60 Maryland Public Information Act requests. OCA requires the capability to effectively manage and review ESI during litigation and to efficiently respond to MPIA requests.
