      Questions and Answers

    • Official Notice #5: RFI #1 Controls Wiring for New Heat Pumps - Question and Answer (released 2026-03-23T11:52:45.343Z) —

The following RFI has been submitted. Please see the response:

RFI#1: Will the City provide a new IP drop (Network Connection) at the new heat pumps location to facilitate data pulling and control? If a new drop is not allowed, confirm the scope of work includes running control wiring from existing Siemens control panel in Mechanical Room 224 to new location.
ANSWER: Yes, the City can provide a new IP drop at the location of the new heat pumps. However, The City does not prescribe against using existing drops in Mech room 224. The process for requesting new drops is typically as follows:

The contractor for this project will be responsible with providing a request for the new drop to the PM, in accordance with the construction schedule. The contractor will provide as much information as possible, including as exact location for the new ports as possible, whether static IP address or dynamic host configuration, hostname, and IP address. Then, the City PM will submit a request through an "IT change management request system".  Note that this is the only method for this type of request, so advanced notice and coordination is expected to avoid scheduling delays. It can take several weeks to coordinate the work with IT. Once approved, more direct coordination will occur, allowing installation and configuration to be scheduled. Though the labor and material costs for new IP drops are outside of your expenses, you will be coordinating the work closely with IT to ensure proper configuration.
