    Description

    The MDC (District) intends to obtain formal bids from qualified contractors to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and services necessary to perform rehabilitation of the waste heat boilers located at the at the Metropolitan District Commission’s (District’s) Heat Recovery Facility (HRF) within the Hartford Water Pollution Control Facility (HWPCF). The intent of this work is to enable the MDC to obtain re-certification of the subject pressure vessels for continued operation within the State of Connecticut. The scope of work under this Contract shall include, but not be limited to, the completion and documentation of two (2) distinct categories of inspections: Internal Inspections and External Inspections. Bidder must demonstrate to the MDC that bidder is qualified and competent to perform the Work. The HRF is located at the MDC’s HWPCF, 240 Brainard Road, Hartford, Connecticut. The HRF generates electricity by recovering waste heat from three (3) multiple-hearth sludge incinerators. Steam is produced by two waste heat boilers manufactured by Alstom and is supplied to a 2.0 MW turbine-generator system, consisting of a turbine manufactured by Dresser-Rand and a generator manufactured by Hyundai. The electricity generated is utilized on-site at the HWPCF.
