The intent of this solicitation is to establish a unit price contract to prepare, store and plant trees in the quantities directed by the Contract Administrator / Designee along County maintained rights-of-ways, at County maintained facilities, and private properties within Montgomery County. The Contractor is required to perform all work necessary for completion of the planting projects as indicated or directed, provide all required maintenance of traffic, and any related items as directed by the Contract Administrator or Designee. The actual number of dollars and/or trees and shrubs is unknown from year-to-year and subject to appropriation approved by the County Council. The resulting contract provides for the procurement, staging, planting, and removal of street trees for the County’s annual planting program. The work requires: 1. Procurement, receipt, inspection, and heeling-in of approximately 2,000 1.5–2” caliper trees per planting season (October–April) in accordance with County specifications and ANSI standards. 2. Planting approximately 1,700 street trees per planting season on a County-approved schedule. 3. Removal of dead plantings at the direction of the County. 4. A facility with a secure staging area of at least one (1) acre for the storage and handling of plant material. 5. Performance of work on a pay-for-completed-work basis; the County does not provide advance payments. 6. Provision of qualified personnel, including at least one Maryland DNR Licensed Tree Expert (or approved equivalent), to oversee the work.
