    Q (Project Schedule ): Is a project schedule required to be submitted with the bid?

    Q (Bid Submission ): The ITB states that the hardcopies of bids are to be submitted to Doug Solek at the Town of Berlin. And other documents state that it should be submitted online. Can you please clarify?

    Q (No subject): Note on Drawing M-1.0 says to refer to Architect's Drawings for modifications to door openings and demolition, cutting and patching of ceilings to allow for replacement of AHU's and WSHP's. There are no Architectural Drawings in the Bid Package. Please clarify architectural renovation scope of work for this project.

    A: The Lower-Level Mechanical Room (north) has a single 36” wide door and an 8’ x 4’ exterior louver leading to an areaway. Based on the manufacturer being proposed, the opening width to the Mechanical Room may need to be enlarged to allow installation of AC-1 onto the existing pad. If required, the contractor shall include the removal of door, frame, and wall construction and reinstallation of same within their base bid amount necessary for the installation of AC-1 within the existing Mechanical Room. Ceiling grid and ceiling tile removal / reinstallation shall be included within the contractor’s base bid amount to suit replacement of water source heat pumps above finished ceilings where located on the mechanical drawings.


    Q (No subject): There is no piping diagram for new cooling tower CT-1. Are new isolation valves or any other new piping specialties required?

    A: Existing condenser water isolation valves to remain. Contractor to provide sections of new condenser water piping to suit replacement.  Contractor to provide new specialties including Y-strainer, unions, drain valve in accordance with manufacturer’s installation instructions.


    Q (No subject): Refrigeration Piping: are UL listed, code compliant press-fit joints acceptable as fittings for ACR copper piping?

    A: Use brazed fittings for refrigeration piping. Our office does not accept pro press fittings on refrigeration piping.


    Q (No subject): Hot Water Coil Piping: are UL listed, code compliant press-fit joints acceptable as fittings for type "L" copper piping?

    A: Pro press fittings are acceptable for hot water heating piping.


    Q (No subject): WSHP units - tagged as existing to remain (ETR): are existing units be to re-used with all existing HW piping and flex hoses left in place as is?

    A: Existing WSHP units shall remain as is and should not be included in this project’s scope.


    Q (No subject): HW piping at new AHU's: is HW coil piping to be all new as per HW coil piping detail on drawing M-2.2? Or are all existing valves and devices to be re-used as is?

    A: The design intent was to re-use existing control valves and specialties as they all appeared to be in good operable condition.


    Q (Electrical Specificaions): The specs on drawing E2.1 call out for short circuit/coordination/Arc flash Analysis. Does this apply to this project? There is no change to the existing distribution system as a result of this project and not likely to change existing short circuit ratings or arch flash labels unless they were never performed. Otherwise, we need the one line of system they want to analyze. Please clarify.

    A: This item does not pertain to this project.


    Q (Temp Heating and Cooling): Is temporary heating and cooling expected to be included in this project when current systems are brought offline?

    A: No


    Q (Bid Extension): Can this bid be extended?

    A: No, the bid due date remains unless otherwise stated via an addendum.


    Q (No subject): Drawing M2.3 Field quality control states to perform duct leakage tests. Do leakage tests apply, and if so is it limited to new duct, and all new equipment including EF's, WSHP's, and AHU's?

    A: Duct pressure testing will not be required, however the contractor shall inspect the existing condition of all ductwork and repair as needed.


    Q (No subject): M2.3 Pipe Insulation states Refrigerant suction line only to be insulated. Then under Refrigerant Pipe Insulation it states both suction and liquid to be insulated. Please clarify.

    A: Insulate both suction and liquid refrigeration piping.


    Q (No subject): Daikin is listed as an acceptable substitute for the Water Source Heat Pumps. Would Daikin be an acceptable substitute for the Air Handler Units and the Condensing Units?

    A: If Daikin substituted equipment meets the design specifications we would review and accept.
