However, despite proximity to high-volume routes connecting the Islands, Detroit, and Cleveland, Toledo currently underperforms in attracting transient boaters, overnight guests, and waterfront tourism.With over 15,000 recorded visits, 600 transient reservations and nearly 60 seasonal reservations in 2025, the docks represent one of the most active and visible components of the Glass City Riverwalk. Their continued activation and boating development planning are critical to realizing the Riverwalk’s full potential as the nation’s best Riverwalk. Notes: Metroparks Toledo intends for the Glass City Marina and Downtown Toledo Transient Docks to function primarily as short-term and overnight transient docking facilities, supporting frequent turnover, downtown visitation, and waterfront activation. While seasonal docking may play a role, the primary objective of this planning effort is to increase transient boating activity and visitor engagement rather than maximize long-term slip occupancy.
